  Far Eastern Permitted to Buy Stake in Pacific China

Far Eastern Department Stores Ltd. (2903.TW) has been recently approved by the Taiwanese regulator to acquire a 40% stake in Pacific China Holdings (HK) Ltd. for USD 79.5 million.  Together with the nearly 27% indirect stake held by its 45% owned Pacific Sogo Department Stores Co., Far Eastern Department Stores will totally takes a 67% stake in Pacific China Holdings after the deal.

For long-term development, the company will be likely to consider going public in Hong Kong via a backdoor listing. But, no matter it will launch a HK listing or not, it still continues the expansion of Far Eastern and Pacific department stores in Mainland China thanks to the booming general merchandise industry there, noted the vice president for Far Eastern Department Stores.  Pacific China Holdings (BVI) Ltd., 100% owned by Pacific China Holdings, takes stakes in several department stores in major mainland cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing.
